Paramaribo, October 1, 2025 – The Suriname Energy Chamber (SEC) officially launched the EGO Program (Energy, Gas & Oil) on Wednesday evening at Het Park, in the presence of members and invited guests. The event also marked the celebration of one year since the historic Final Investment Decision (FID) in Suriname — a milestone that signaled the country’s entry into a new phase of energy development.
October Declared as Energy Month
The SEC has declared October as Energy Month in Suriname, ahead of the Caribbean Energy Month in November, which is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

This initiative underscores SEC’s commitment to strengthening Suriname’s energy future through knowledge sharing, dialogue, and collaboration between stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
Local Content Conference: October 21–23, 2025
As part of Energy Month, the SEC will host the Local Content Conference 2025 from October 21 to 23 at Assuria High Rise in Paramaribo.
This three-day event will focus on achieving a common national understanding of what “local content” means for Suriname, and how it can contribute to economic diversification and inclusive growth.
The conference is made possible through the support of Afreximbank, which has committed USD 5 billion to the development of local content in Suriname. This partnership highlights the importance of international collaboration in advancing the nation’s energy and industrial sectors.
About the EGO Program
The EGO Program is an informative media initiative designed to improve public awareness and understanding of Suriname’s emerging oil and gas sector. Set to air from October across various television networks and digital platforms in and outside Suriname, the program will feature insights into the country’s energy transition, local content development, and the role of both public and private actors.
The program is supported by Staatsolie and TotalEnergies, with several other companies expressing interest in joining this initiative.

A Step Forward
With the launch of the EGO Program and the upcoming Local Content Conference, the Suriname Energy Chamber reaffirms its role as a national platform for transparency, knowledge sharing, and partnership—committed to shaping a sustainable and inclusive energy future for Suriname.
