Suriname stands at a defining moment. With large-scale investments in oil, gas, gold, and bauxite, the nation is entering a new era of opportunity. Yet the true measure of success will not be the scale of investment alone — but how Suriname uses this momentum to diversify its economy and build sustainable prosperity for all its citizens.

The Local Content Conference 2025, taking place from October 21–23, 2025 at the Assuria High Rise in Paramaribo, will bring together national and international leaders to answer one crucial question: How can Suriname turn resource wealth into long-term, inclusive, and green growth?

Organized by the Suriname Energy Chamber (SEC) in collaboration with Afreximbank, the Government of Suriname, and key industry partners, this high-level conference will define what local content truly means for Suriname — not only in the energy sector but across the entire economy.

Under the theme “Financing the Future: Local Content, Green Growth & Partnerships,” the conference will focus on:

• Building Suriname’s local capacity to participate in major projects;

• Financing mechanisms to empower local enterprises and entrepreneurs;

• Green growth and diversification — using our natural and renewable heritage as a competitive advantage; and

• Partnerships that bridge public, private, and international expertise.

Morning plenaries will feature presidents, ministers, financiers, and CEOs addressing the transformation of Suriname’s energy landscape. Afternoon working groups will translate discussions into action — producing tangible outputs such as a Local Content Roadmap, Sovereign Wealth Fund brief, and Energy Sector Plan inputs.

This is more than a conference. It is a national effort to build an economy that moves beyond extraction — where our forests, people, and innovation drive a diversified and resilient future.
