- [Bevordering van zonne-energie: Kansen en uitdagingen](https://sec.sr/bevordering-van-zonne-energie-kansen-en-uitdagingen/): In Suriname is er nog steeds een groeiende behoefte van bedrijven en huishoudens om een deel van hun elektriciteitsverbruik op te wekken via zonne-energiesystemen zonder de toevoeging van batterijen aan het systeem. Het toevoegen van batterijen aan het systeem kan de kosten verhogen met wel 20 tot zelfs 60%, afhankelijk van het doel.  Hoewel de overheid de invoerbelasting op zonnepanelen grotendeels heeft afgeschaft, moet er meer duidelijkheid komen over de invoer van batterijen, waarop de heffingen kunnen oplopen tot bijna 35%.  Zonne-energie en hydro-energie kunnen elkaar aanvullen als complementaire elektriciteitsbronnen. Het grootste elektriciteitsnetwerk in Suriname, EPAR, produceert ongeveer 210 megawatt aan stroom.
